Safeguarding
We take safeguarding very seriously at Cubert School. We have a Health and Safety representative and named Governor, who are responsible for general safeguarding. In addition, we have a senior teacher who have Level 3 child protection training. The Headteacher is also a Level 2 child protection trainer, ensuring that all our staff and governors have at least a Level 2 awareness.
The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads are the people appointed to take lead responsibility for child protection in school, at Cubert School they are:
DSL: Karen Brown
DDSL: Sean Simmons whilst Holly Greenaway is on maternity leave.
Health and Safety and Safeguarding Governor: Teresa Herman
As an expertise, Cubert School has delivered training around domestic violence and how to manage upset children to other schools in the area, both Primary and Secondary.
All of our staff undertake the emergency First Aid award, and we have a First Aid at work specialist too.
For online safety, we have one member of staff who is a CEOP ambassador. This is a qualification around children’s internet safety. We have also received a National Online Safety Certified School Accreditation for our whole school community approach to protecting children in the online world.
Keeping Children Safe in Education is regularly updated by the government. Our Child Protection policy is also updated regularly to reflect these changes.
